Let the sunshine in!
Sunlight is nature’s disinfectant. It works wonders on our homes; its light cleanses surfaces of germs and fresh summer air keeps our homes free of dust and mould.
On the next sunny day that you’re home, open all your doors and windows to let sunlight and fresh air into your home. Your carpets will do well to be exposed to that fresh sunlight, and it will help to get rid of the musty, dusty smell carpet can get during the winter and rainy spring.
Baking soda for bad smells
Be it kids or pets, our carpets can sometimes sponge up bad smells that we tend to notice most in warmer weather. If you can’t afford carpet powder, feel free to sprinkle baking soda everywhere on your carpet. Leave the soda there while you go to work, then vacuum it away at the end of the day.
The baking soda should soak up most of the bad smells for you, but play it safe by giving your floors a cheeky spray with some air freshener if you have it handy!
